This section applies to producers and manufacturers of products which are used by architects and interior designers.
Having spent over ten years in the glass industry working in the contract and commercial interiors sector, I worked on the marketing and product requirements to get our products specified for use, as to have products specified, either prescriptively or descriptively as 'equal or approved' is a key route to market for many companies.
To achieve that though, there are a huge number of variables: price, lead time, contract type, aesthetics, regulatory compliance, environmental certifications, safety standards, MOQs, delivery regulations, BIM...the list is quite extensive, and there can be many hoops too.
Specification management is a dedicated resource at larger companies, which works across production, business development, sales and marketing; smaller companies and those with products new to the market may need someone like myself who can come in, set up the specification processes, collate the data and create the documentation needed.
Given the speed with which specification needs are moving towards digitisation, increased emphasis on accreditation with BREEAM (or LEED), the push for mandatory product safety testing for many products as well as lifecycle and carbon footprint factors, it can be quite overwhelming to know where to start.
If you would like to discuss your specification needs, I offer a free, no-obligation online or in-person consultation to discuss your business development needs and to see if I am the right fit for you, so click here to book yours or drop me a message.
Having a quick chat, in person, on the phone or online is the best way to get the ball rolling. You can request a call back from me, book in for a free one-to-one, or drop me a line. So get in touch!
