Where I add value

The challenges rarely sit neatly in one professional lane.

I am most useful when growth, structure, delivery capability, systems and decision-making have stopped lining up cleanly.

01

Business analysis

Find the real problem, connect what may appear unrelated and define what the organisation needs next.

02

Product & service design

Shape viable propositions, capabilities and routes to market around commercial and operational reality.

03

Process & systems

Understand how work and information flow, then design clearer processes, workflows and system requirements.

04

AI & operating models

Adopt AI deliberately across people, process, systems, data and governance, rather than as another tool bolted on.

05

Commercial capability

Review costs, margins, structure and organisational capability so decisions rest on a stronger commercial model.

06

Operational change

Create and deliver practical roadmaps for growth, transition, restructuring and systems-led transformation.

Selected work

Outcome
AI capability focused on genuine use, adoption and commercial return.

How I work

Understand the whole organisation, not just the visible symptom.

I establish the problem you are actually trying to solve, understand how work and information flow, define the capabilities required and work through the operational, technical and organisational dependencies.

Experience with range

Commercially grounded. Operationally practical.

My background spans business analysis, marketing, manufacturing operations, product development and organisational change, from digital programmes and new ventures to production, pricing and restructuring.

I work independently through JL Consulting and, fractionally, as Head of Customer Success at VAYRO, an AI and automation specialist. That role keeps me on the front line of real AI adoption, making sure new capability is genuinely used, embedded in everyday operations and earning its return, rather than bought and left idle.

It means the AI advice I give is grounded in live implementation: what changes for people, process, data and governance, and where the commercial value actually lands.

About Joanna

Something of a Swiss Army knife.

Breadth is the point. I can move between a board conversation, a workflow on the factory floor and a system requirement in the same week, making each one make sense to the other.

The way I work is shaped by what matters to me: sustainability, mental health, diversity, equality, inclusion and plain kindness. Change lands better when people are treated well through it.

First ten years

Digital programmes in London

Project manager and business analyst delivering complex digital and technology programmes for global brands.

2012 onwards

Manufacturing and leadership

Into the family manufacturing business, at executive level from 2015, with responsibility spanning production optimisation, pricing, restructuring and operational design.

Today

Consulting and practical AI

Independent consulting through JL Consulting, alongside fractional leadership at VAYRO focused on real-world AI adoption.

Ways of working together

Clarity & Direction

A focused piece of work to diagnose the real challenge, connect the moving parts and agree practical priorities.

Bespoke projects

Hands-on delivery for transitions, systems implementations, restructuring and operational design.

Specialist network

Where deeper technical or creative expertise is needed, I can facilitate additional specialist support through my network.

Common questions

Straight answers before we speak.

What does Joanna Lush Consulting do?

Independent business and strategy consulting for owner-managed businesses, early-stage ventures and leadership teams. Work spans business analysis, product and service design, process and systems, operating models and AI adoption, commercial review and operational change.

Who do you typically work with?

Owner-managed and family businesses, manufacturers, early-stage ventures and leadership teams, usually where growth, structure, systems and decision-making have stopped lining up cleanly.

How do you help businesses adopt AI?

Deliberately and across the whole picture: people, process, systems, data and governance. Alongside consulting, I work fractionally as Head of Customer Success at VAYRO, an AI and automation specialist, so the advice comes from live implementation rather than theory.

Where are you based and how far do you work?

I am based near Rye, East Sussex, and work with clients nationwide across the UK, remotely and on site.

How does an engagement usually start?

With a short, no-pressure conversation by WhatsApp, phone or email. From there it is usually a focused Clarity & Direction piece of work, or a bespoke project with hands-on delivery.

For growth, complexity and change

If the challenge crosses boundaries, let’s talk.
