British manufacturers face tough challenges

As a UK-based owner of a manufacturing business, you have dealt with a lot over the past few years - supply chain disruption, increases in raw material and energy costs, general economic uncertainty, and lack of skilled labour. Add to that the move towards carbon neutrality and sustainability and the world of manufacturing can sometimes seem like an uphill struggle.


However, British manufacturers are a resilient breed, resourceful, adaptable, and passionate about what they do; the UK manufacturing industry is having a resurgence and has significant backing for growth and investment nationwide.

  • Sustainability: Sustainability needs to be part of ESG strategy and run through all aspects of the business from operations to procurement.  Achieving this and balancing day-to-day operations can be time-consuming and tie up valuable resources.
  • Operational Efficiency:  Ensuring basic operational efficiency starts with measuring your key performance indicators.  Many businesses don't have a clear handle on these - for some identifying the values to start putting in benchmarks and targets over and above profit margins can be daunting.  
  • Market Dynamics: Trying to keep your business up to date in a competitive landscape whilst still running production requires more than just agile pricing.  There is regulatory compliance, product testing, market research, and competitor research - all elements which need to be factored into ongoing strategic needs. 


How I Can Help:

I work collaboratively with manufacturers as a fresh pair of eyes on the end-to-end lifecycle of their products - using their subject matter expertise and my own unique skill set to help with everything from product development and marketing to risk management.
